Classes will pause for Christmas and New Year. We shall instead be holding two meetings to study John of Chyannor, the 17th century story told by Nicholas Boson, as it was recorded by Edward Lhuyd and published by Lhuyd in 1707. We will be using a transcription into Standard Cornish for convenience, but Lhuyd will be our primary text. The first meeting will be on Thursday 19 December 2024 at 20:00, and will focus on establishing the literal meaning of Boson’s Cornish. The second meeting will be on Thursday 2 January 2025 at 20:00, and will focus on the story as part of the broader historical Corpus of Cornish texts and also in the general context of folklore and narrative art. The meetings will be held on-line by Zoom. Contact Us if you would like to enrol in one or both of these meetings. Picture: St Levan Church, by Jim Champion.
