Exercise 33
Today is Sunday. Today the weather is sunny and warm. Crysten likes warm weather. She lives in Truro, but she’s crazy for the beach. Crysten likes every big wave. She likes surfing. So today Cristen will be visiting Fistral Beach in Newquay to surf.
Tôny likes sunny weather too. He lives in Camborne, but he’s mad about golf. Today he’s going to drive to St Just to play golf on the cliff above Cape Cornwall with two friends. After that they’ll swim in the swimming pool at the club. And have lunch in the bar. And drink a pint of beer with it.
Exercise 34
Will Crysten be going to the town or to the beach? Tôny and his two friends won’t be surfing. So what will they be doing today? Are you going to walk to the library? Will you have a cup of tea? No thanks. Will you be driving to Falmouth tomorrow? Yes, I’ll be visiting the optician. What about you? No, I shall go riding in the countryside.
Exercise 35
Crysten and Tôny are on the beach at Porth Towan. It’s Saturday. What are they saying?
Crysten:
The sun’s hot, isn’t it?
Tôny:
Yes, very hot today.
Crysten:
Are you going to swim in the sea?
Tôny:
Perhaps. Is the sea warm?
Crysten:
No, it’s not warm. Each wave is very cold.
Tôny:
I’ll wait. Swim later. Are you going to surf?
Crysten:
No, I’ll surf tomorrow. Today I shall sunbathe. In hot weather it’s nice to wear a skimpy scarlet bikini instead of a black wetsuit. And maybe eat an ice cream.
Tôny:
Yes, that’s a good idea. Or drink a cool can of cola. Are you going to come with me to buy ice cream in the village?
Crysten:
Walk to the shop? Like this? In nothing but these two itsy bits? Oh no no no! We’re not in some film for lads. I’ll have an ice cream right here – a white chocolate one on a stick – and you’re going to run and get it. Quickly before it melts. Thank you very much!
